Warangal: District Collector G Kishan directed the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) officials to make dedicated efforts for the effective implementation of ‘One Full Meal’ programme, a supplementary nutrition programme under ICDS.

The new initiative will be introduced on December 15, 2014 in Warangal district. Pregnant women, lactating mothers and children in the age group of seven months to three years would be given a modified nutritious diet for 30 days in a month.

The diet includes 200 ml milk and one egg for pregnant women and lactating mothers while the children get one egg every day through all the anganwadi centres to address the problem of malnutrition.
The district administration has released Rs 94 crore for the implementation of the programme from December 2014 to March 2015.

The Collector addressed a gathering of officials from Warangal and Khammam districts at an orientation programme held at Kakatiya University in Hanamkonda on Friday under the aegis of the Department of Women Development and Child Welfare in association with UNICEF.

Kishan wanted the ICDS project directors, child development project officers (CDPOs), assistant child development project officers and supervisors to make sincere efforts for the programme implementation. It should be executed in a transparent manner and without the involvement of middlemen.

In Warangal district, 2.50 lakh women and children would be benefitted under the programme. A monitoring committee headed by sarpanch would be set up at anganwadi level.
