Khammam: Unable to bear the harassment of his daughter by his son-in-law, a person committed suicide at Vandanam village in Chintakani mandal of Khammam district in the early hours on Friday.
Sivanya of Vandanam village in Chintakani mandal got married to Suresh, a native of Gopalapuram in Khammam urban mandal, 18 months ago.
Since the time of the marriage, Suresh was harassing his wife demanding more dowry. Suresh developed an illicit relationship with another woman in Hyderabad, and used to harass his wife Sivanya.
Deeply pained over his son-in-law continuously harassing his daughter, Sivanya’s father Anam Narasimha Rao consumed insecticide and committed suicide at his house at Vandanam village on Friday. Sivanya said that though she complained about her husband’s behaviour to her father-in-law and brother-in-law, they failed to respond.
Her family members along with the body of Narasimha Rao staged a rasta roko on Wyra highway at Gopalapuram demanding action against Suresh and his family members. Former Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao visited the spot and consoled the members of the Narasimha Rao’s family. They called off their protest after the police assured them of justice.
