Hyderabad: The Telangana government will give pensions to as many as 29 lakh eligible persons despite obstacles, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender has said. Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the Finance Minister said the government has earmarked Rs 4,000 crore towards pension disbursal to all the eligible persons. Slamming Opposition parties for making false allegations, Eatala said the opposition parties were trying to gain political mileage by targeting the government.
Claiming that there was no dearth of funds for welfare schemes in the State, the Minister added officials were asked to give pensions to all the eligible under old-age, widows and physically disabled persons. “The Government is committed to fulfill its promises in a phased manner. Every eligible person will get pension and there is no need to worry about it,” he assured.
Criticising the Opposition parties for continuing tirade against the TRS government on welfare schemes, Eatala assured that steps were taken to ensure timely pension distribution among the eligible. It is the responsibility of the government to extend pensions to those really awaiting a helping hand, he said.
The Finance Minister maintained that the government has taken up a prestigious welfare scheme of distributing three acres of land to Dalits with needed financial succor for agricultural works during first year. The government will also extend this facility to the Scheduled Tribes from next year, he added.
