Warangal: The State government will soon set up a Dental Council of Telangana, said Deputy Chief Minister Thatikonda Rajaiah, who also holds the Health portfolio. Participating in the second day deliberations at the first ‘Telangana Dental Conference’ organised by Indian Dental Association’s Warangal branch in Warangal on Saturday in the context of ‘Dental department-Its planning’, the Deputy Chief Minister lauded the organisers for conducting the conference in Warangal. The scientific deliberations should be focused for achieving greater modernisation of the dental science in the state, he said.

Dr Rajaiah said there should be a healthy competition within the medical wings and that should help upholding Telangana identity and its growth. The dental wing at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital would be strengthened, he added. Later, speaking to the media, the Deputy Chief Minister said the government was also contemplating to establish a dental college in the state. Similarly, the government would also encourage individuals or institutions intending to set up dental colleges in private sector. The members of Dental Association of India should look into that, he said.

“Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is very keen to support the industrial sector,” he added. Dr Rajaiah said he would be launching 24-hour hospital stay programme on December 14 at 9 am. As part of the initiative, he would spend time at TB Hospital, Regional Eye Centre, CKM, MGM, ENT and Hanamkonda Maternity Hospitals at Warangal district headquarters.

The programme was aimed to study the problems, making developmental proposals followed by funds allocation and commencement of works within one month.
