Elitist traffic cops turn blind eye to violations
Ironical it sure is, but when vehicle users across the length and breadth of the city are put to all sort of checking, frisking and penalising, the rich and mighty in the uptown Banjara Hills are out of sight of traffic cops. One of the hot favourites of joggers in the swanky suburb, KBR Park vicinity happens to be a centre for all traffic violations.
Chaotic KBR parking
Hyderabad: Ironical it sure is, but when vehicle users across the length and breadth of the city are put to all sort of checking, frisking and penalising, the rich and mighty in the uptown Banjara Hills are out of sight of traffic cops. One of the hot favourites of joggers in the swanky suburb, KBR Park vicinity happens to be a centre for all traffic violations. The road near the park has turned into the longest illegal parking zone.
Even before dawn, hundreds of high-end cars – even official vehicles – are parked on the main road without any action from the concerned authorities. While the entire stretch of road gets blocked with vehicles belonging to morning walkers during the early hours, vehicles of political leaders belonging to TDP block the road in front of the NTR Trust Bhavan from 9 am onwards.
Neither the traffic department nor the local police have done anything to maintain surveillance on this stretch and ensure that the traffic flow does not get affected. Though there are 10 authorised parking lots and several new boards indicating ‘No Parking’ along the perimeter of KBR Park, haphazard parking has become a big problem leading to traffic jams almost every day.
