Telangana State government is actively considering the proposal to give additional benefits to doctors as an incentive to motivate them to work in rural areas.

Accompanied by Health Minister Dr Laxma Reddy and Bhongir MP Bura Narsaiah Goud, members of Telangana Government Doctors Association called on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Secretariat on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao observed that House Rent Allowance given to doctors in rural areas was less when compared with that of their counterparts in urban areas. He emphasised the need to strengthen public health sector so that the people would visit government hospitals without inhibitions.
Meanwhile, Telangana government doctors supported TRS administration decision to shift Government Chest Hospital from Erragadda to Vikarabad. The hospital should be located in a serene atmosphere and it should be away from hustle and bustle of the city, they felt.
On the other hand, Telangana Gazetted Officers Association had also backed the move. President V Mamatha stated that doctors’ fraternity hailing from Andhra Pradesh were behind protests being organised in hospital premises.
