Swine Flu Drug Makes Warangal School Kids Ill . Over 200 students of a government school in Dharmaram of Warangal district of Telangana have fallen sick after consuming the free Folic acid tablets supplied at a swine flu prevention camp at their school on Monday.

HYDERABAD: Over 200 students of a government school in Dharmaram of Warangal district of Telangana have fallen sick after consuming the free Folic acid tablets supplied at a swine flu prevention camp at their school on Monday.

According to reports, around 700 students of different ages took the tablets around 11 am at their school. They were also given homeopathic medicines under the ongoing anti-swine flu drive under taken by the Telangana government. “After lunch many students complained nausea, stomach ache and started writhing in pain. 200 of them both girls and boys were shifted to MGM hospital here in Warangal,” a school teacher accompanying the students said.

Doctors at the MGM hospital said that Iron tablets could cause stomach irritation and the midday meal laced with spicy sambar might have resulted in pain. However they said that all the students are safe and were under care of a team of doctors. The shrill cries of the students and the anxious parents have caused a panic situation in the district hospital. The government has irected the hospital authorities to shift students to Hyderabad for better treatment..

Meanwhile,TTDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao and AISF leaders have sought the resignation of Telangana health minister Dr Laxma Reddy alleging negligence. “How can the tablets were given on empty stomach to students and why are the Government school children treated as guinea pigs,” he said .
