Hyderabad: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptullah has assured full support to the TRS government in the implementation of schemes formulated for welfare of minority communities.

Speaking to a delegation from Telangana Government, led by Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, the Union Minister said the Centre would extend full support to the state government and consider to release more funds and include more schemes to be implemented in Telangana State.

The delegation of the Telangana Government comprising Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Special Secretary to Government, Minorities Welfare, Mohammed Jalaluddin Akber, IFS, Director of Minorities Welfare Department and Prof. S A Shukoor, vice-Chairman and Managing Director of AP State Minorities Finance Corporation held a meeting with the Union Minister and discussed various issues pertaining to the Minorities’ welfare in Telangana State. Najma Heptullah expressed her happiness and said this was the first time that a delegation from any state called on her to review implementation of welfare schemes for minorities. Arvind Mayaram, IAS, Union Secretary, Y P Singh, IAS, Joint Secretary, Rakesh Mohan, IAS, Joint Secretary Government of India and other officials of the Ministry were present on the occasion.

On the issue of bifurcation of the AP State Wakf Board, Najma promised to take urgent measures and asked the Union Secretary of Minorities’ Affairs to visit Hyderabad on February 18 and hold a meeting with the officials of both the States on the issue. The delegation informed the Union Minister that more number of applications were received under Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme in the State than the stipulated target and appealed to her to consider sanctioning all applications under the scheme. The Union Minister agreed to do so under MSDP at a cost of Rs. 38 crores. She also assured to consider implementation of coaching programmes under Centre for Educational Development of Minorities (CEDM), Government of India. She also assured to sanction funds for digitization and preservation of manuscripts in the world-famous ‘Dairat-ul-Moarif, OU, Hyderabad.

The delegation appealed to the Union Minister to introduce various training programmes under the ‘Ustaad’ scheme of Government of India, upon which she agreed to implement the training programmes for artisans involving the State government.
