Nizamabad: All the famous Shiva temples in the district have been decked up for celebrating Maha Shivaratri festival which falls on Tuesday. The authorities of various temples made elaborate arrangements to meet the needs of the pilgrims, who throng the temples in tens of thousands. There are various temples in the city like the Neelakanteshwara, Shambhulingeshwara, Umamaheshwara and Nagareshwara temples.

The Neelakanteshwara temple in Induru was constructed by the Kakatiya kings 800 years ago on the lines of the Jagannadha Temple at Puri in Odisha. Special rituals and prayers are conducted every Monday and during the Maha Shivarathri festival every year, when thousands of devotees throng the temple.

The Umamaheshwara temple, built eight years ago at the local agricultural market yard in the city also attracts devotees in large numbers on auspicious occasion of Maha Shivarathri, where people come and offer special prayers. Similarly, special arrangements are made at the Shambhulingeshwara and Nagareshwara temples which also attract devotees in large numbers.
