GHMC to speed up road widening works

Its Special Officer has instructed that the heads of departments furnish details of works which are to be taken up, so that the GHMC would coordinate with the departments concerned to expedite them on priority basis.

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commission (GHMC) Special Officer Somesh Kumar said all line departments like police, Hyderabad Metro Rail, Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), Telangana Central Power Distribution Company Limited (TPCPDCL) and other civic-related departments would be visiting important junctions, road widening sites and electrical poles on the main roads and footpaths, which were creating a lot of congestion hampering free flow of traffic.

Somesh Kumar, who held a review meeting with all the senior officials of various departments on Wednesday, emphasised on better coordination to take up all the works in a phased manner and also to speed up the works with regard to road widening. He requested the electricity department to personally monitor and to shift the electrical poles, which were causing obstruction on footpaths and roads, on priority basis.

The Special Officer further requested that the heads of the departments to furnish the details of works which are to be taken up, so that the GHMC would coordinate with the concerned departments to expedite them on priority basis. He also informed that the Tolichowki flyover was almost ready and would be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao soon. Senior police officials Jithender, Avinash Mohanthy and Ashwini Kumar, HMR MD NVS Reddy and senior officials from the electricity and HMWS&SB participated in the review meeting held at GHMC Head Office.
