SC/ST atrocities case against Renuka
Following the directions of the High Court, the Khanapuram Haweli police on Friday registered several cases including under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against former union minister and Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdhury based on the complaint of Kalavathi, wife of the late Congress leader Dr Ramji Naik.
Khammam: Following the directions of the High Court, the Khanapuram Haweli police on Friday registered several cases including under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against former union minister and Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdhury based on the complaint of Kalavathi, wife of the late Congress leader Dr Ramji Naik.
The police booked cases under Sections 420 and 506 of IPC besides SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Chowdhury. Cases were also registered against six others, some of them are said to be Chowdhury’s personal assistants. According to the complaint lodged by Kalavathi, also known as Chandrakala, Chowdhury took Rs 1.10 crore from Dr Ramji Naik promising him of Congress party ticket from Wyra Assembly constituency in the 2014 elections.Kalavathi’s allegation is that Chowdhury did not return the money to Dr Ramji after she failed to keep her word.
