Nalgonda: Activists of various political parties continued canvassing on Sunday in support of their respective candidates even as voting for the Legislative Council elections was on. They put up tents near the polling centre in Choutuppal mandal of Munugode constituency and took up canvassing even while the polling was on since 8 am.The polling for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal seat (Graduates) was being recorded through web-casting.

Graduates waited in long queues to cast their votes. The police made elaborate security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident.Meanwhile, Telangana Legislative Council member Karne Prabhakar visited the polling centre in Choutuppal mandal centre where voting for the Nalgonda-Warangal-Khammam (Graduates) seat was going on.The MLC saw the polling trend and interacted with some voters.

Speaking to the media, Prabhakar stated that the graduate voters were noting the development taking place in the State after separate statehood agitation leader K Chandrashekar Rao took over as Chief Minister.He expressed confidence of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate Palla Rajeshwar Reddy emerging victorious in the election.

Low polling in Khammam

Khammam: There was low polling here on Sunday in the Legislative Council elections to the Khammam-Nalgonda-Warangal (Graduates) seat. The voting was slow as people did not show any enthusiasm to go to the polling booth. There was only 15 per cent voting by 1 pm, officials said.Polling in the Pinapaka constituency of Khammam district for the Khammam-Nalgonda-Warangal seat (Graduates’ constituency) began at 8 am on a dull note. Even by 10 am no voter was seen at the booth.

Of the 4,684 voters in five polling centres in Pinapaka constituency not even 10 per cent exercised their franchise by the afternoon. Even politicians did not show much interest in canvassing support for their respective candidates in the fray.However, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) expressed confidence of winning the seat, even four days ahead of the polling.
