Khammam: If Telangana State was on the receiving end of the Centre’s discrimination in the Union Budget 2015-16, it was Khammam district that was given a raw deal in the State’s Budget, MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. Addressing press meet here on Monday, Reddy, who is also the head of YSR Congress unit in Telangana, criticised the Centre for not conferring national status on Pranahita-Chevella project.
He found fault with the Centre for not laying its focus on the long pending projects such as steel factory and tribal, mining and horticultural universities in the district. “The Centre was least bothered about the people living in seven mandals of Khammam district that are merged with AP,” Reddy said.Referring to the standoff of the Land Acquisition Bill, he said that their party would oppose the Bill as it was detrimental to the interests of the farmers.

He criticised the TRS government for ignoring its poll promises and trying to implement its own agenda. He demanded that the State government should implement the loan waiver scheme with immediate effect and issue fresh loans to farmers. Senior leaders Akula Murthy, Sharmila Sampath, Dorepalli Shwetha, M Niranjan Reddy, Sadhu Ramesh Reddy, Gugulothu Ravi Babu Naik, Md. Mustafa, Bandi Satyanarayana and J Saidulu were present.
