To speed up setting up of new power plants, Telangana State government on Wednesday released Rs 350 crore for Bhadrari Thermal Power Plant (BTPP) coming up at Manuguru and for the work of second phase of Kothagudem Thermal Power Plant (KTPP) in Khammam district.

Hyderabad: To speed up setting up of new power plants, Telangana State government on Wednesday released Rs 350 crore for Bhadrari Thermal Power Plant (BTPP) coming up at Manuguru and for the work of second phase of Kothagudem Thermal Power Plant (KTPP) in Khammam district.

Issuing orders to this effect, state Energy Secretary Arvind Kumar said funds were released towards equity contribution for the establishment of the projects under the ‘Investment in TS Genco’ scheme during 2014-15. Under the scheme, the government allocated Rs 1,000 crore in the planned budget to Genco to take up new power projects. Bhadradri project with an installed capacity of 1080 MW is being taken up jointly by BHEL and Genco. The KTPP is owned by the Genco only.
