Girls have outperformed boys in the First Year Intermediate Public Examination-2015 of Telangana State, whose results were announced here on Wednesday. While 61.68 per cent girls passed the exam, only 49.60 per cent boys cleared the first year Intermediate. The girls maintained their dominance in the Vocational with a pass percentage of 53.56 per cent compared to boys\' pass percentage of 37.42.

While 61.68 per cent girls passed the exam, only 49.60 per cent boys cleared the first year Intermediate. The girls maintained their dominance in the Vocational with a pass percentage of 53.56 per cent compared to boys' pass percentage of 37.42.

Ranga Reddy district stood first with 71 per cent passes and Nalgonda district slipped to the last place with 43 per cent results. The pass percentage in the first year Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) increased by three per cent as compared to the last year. The results were announced by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari at the BIE office at Nampally.

He said 2,39,954 candidates passed the examination out of 4,31,361 candidates appeared for the first year examination and 55.62 per cent got passed in general courses and girl students have got passed more than boys. Girls have got 12.08 pass percentage more than boys. In vocational courses, 15,240 students got passed. Ranga Reddy district stood in first place with 71 per cent results followed by Hyderabad with 59 per cent, Khammam 56, Adilabad 53, Warangal 52, Karimnagar 51, Nizamabad 49, Mahbubnagar 45, Medak 45 and Naglonda 43 per cent.
