Nalgonda: The CPI (M) Central Committee member Cherupalli Sitaramulu, on Tuesday, gave a call to party workers to be prepared for a long-term agitation against State as well Central governments, since both failed to address numerous problems prevailing in the district.

Speaking at the party Nalgonda district extensive meeting in Nalgonda town, Sitaramulu said BJP government at the Centre and TRS government in the State have not solved a single issue prevailing in Nalgonda district since taking over reins of the administration. The crops of Rabi season were damaged in thousands of acres in the district due to unseasonal rains. He demanded the government to conduct a survey on crop loss on war-footing and extend the compensation to the farmers in time.

He also wanted the State government to take measures to ensure Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the damaged and discolored paddy in the district. He demanded that the government should provide working days to the people under MG-NREGP in the summer season as drought like situation was prevailing in the district.

Pointing out that there was acute drinking water shortage in the villages throughout the district, the CPI (M) Central Committee member S Veeraiah urged the government to repair the hand bore wells and fill the reservoirs with Krishna water to address the problem. He urged the government to supply fodder to the farmers free of cost, keeping in mind the shortage of fodder in the summer season.

Stating that there is no clarity in the budget 2015-16 on development of backward areas and drought relief measures, he urged the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to immediately launch Water Grid scheme in Nalgonda, which is facing fluoride problem. The CPI (M) district secretary Namdyala Narsimhaiah and several leaders of the party also attend the meeting.
