They resorted to sloganeering that the OU lands should never be encroached. "If anyone tries to touch OU lands, we are not going to be silent. Even an inch of OU should not be touched. Whoever tries to take our lands away will not be forgiven," students said. Failing to calm the students, cops arrested student leaders and took them away from the site. From the day KCR announced that he will built houses for poor in OU lands, students are agitating and protesting the move.

They alleged that TRS MLA, Muttireddy Yadagiri Reddy, has encroached upon the university land and leased out the same to hotel and other commercial establishments. Later during the day, heavy forces were deployed within and outside the OU premises, after student groups led by Telangana Vidyarthi Sangham (TVS) staged dharna in front of OU police station, demanding release of the arrested students.

The OU students warned of severe protest if Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao acquires university's land. Meanwhile, the OUJAC has approached the Lok Ayukta seeking its intervention to protect the university's land. They held that as per the Executive Council Rules none has the right to claim over the property of University.
