Hyderabad: The Telangana State Cabinet on Tuesday held on the eve of completion of one year in office resolved to focus full attention on strengthening the party in Hyderabad city particularly in view of the ensuing GHMC elections. The meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed all the ministers to adopt the development mantra and go to the people and create awareness among them over the achievements of the new government in last one year and also speed various developmental programmes taken up under Swachh Hyderabad.
The Cabinet also approved Housing policy for successful implementation of its flagship 2-bedroom houses for weaker sections. The constructions would be taken up under Open Bidding method. The Government decided to construct houses on a big scale for urban poor in Hyderabad and Warangal cities.
The nearly two and half hour meeting deliberated extensively on housing scheme. Rao is understood to have told ministers that he would not give scope for opposition parties to corner the government on housing scheme. The Government is willing to spend whatever funds are required for this scheme and there is no question of going back, he said, according to sources. Rao told ministers to ensure at least 500 houses are built in each Assembly Constituency this year.

It also gave its nod for land acquisition for Yadagirigutta Urban Development Authority (YUDA). Further, the Cabinet ratified power agreements made with BHEL and decision to construct new thermal power plants in the state and approved setting up of a Solar Park near Yadagirigutta.
Referring to the regularisation of encroached government lands, the TRS government decided to give pattas to weaker sections (who applied under GO-58 scheme) from June 2 onwards. The chief minister also directed the ministers to ensure that the state formation day festivities were held on a grand scale this year.
Though the Cabinet approved the new industrial and IT policy it was decided that the announcement would be made on June 12. The Cabinet also discussed about the strategy it should adopt to ensure the victory of the fifth candidate elected during the MLC elections.
