Hyderabad: Contrary to the announcement made by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao about constructing two-bed- room houses for poor on Osmania University land, the Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy on Saturday, said, that there was no need for students of Osmania University to get worried about it since the government has no plans to acquire the lands.

Speaking to media persons after launching the website of Fire Services Department at the State Secretariat here on Saturday, Naini blamed the Congress leaders for the ongoing protests and controversy over the proposed acquisition of 11 acres of Osmania University lands for weaker section housing.

He said that the Congress leaders remained silent when several acres of OU land was encroached upon by land- grabbers. However, they provoked the students for agitation when he made a statement on the issue. He also found fault with the students for their protest and burning of KCR's effigies. The Home Minister said that the government would protect the OU lands. He also appealed to the opposition parties not to provoke the OU students on the issue.
