Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday announced that it would never ally with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen in the GHMC polls or any other election in future. Congress party's alliance with the MIM is said to have dominated the discussion during the TPCC's extended meeting on GHMC polls.

The leaders observed that by contesting Assembly elections in States like Maharashtra, the MIM has caused immense damage to the Congress. TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said a meeting demanding 12 per cent quota for Muslims would be organised by this month-end in the Old City. AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh will attend it.

The TPCC president said that AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi would visit Hyderabad on June 29 and AP on June 30. Rahul has been invited to attend public meetings at Osmania University and another meeting at Warangal. The Congress would focus on instilling confidence among people of AP who are staying in Hyderabad.

S TPCC grapples with internal issues:

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday grappled with the coordination issues that were affecting smooth function of party in view of the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

The meeting, chaired by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, was attended by Leaders of Opposition K Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao and other senior leaders, including Renuka Chowdhary.

Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagender drew flak from other leaders who alleged that his inactive participation in party affairs was causing damage to the party in the city. The arguments turned so bitter that Nagender offered to quit from the post.

Renuka Chowdhary complained of less representation of women in the party. The TPCC leaders felt that the lack of coordination between the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka was also leading to several organisational problems which was affecting the party work.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Congress would launch massive agitation against the TRS Government if it fails to provide 12 per cent reservation to Muslims in jobs and education.

He also charged the GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar of behaving like an agent of TRS. Reddy said the TPCC would hold party meetings under GHMC limits from June 21 in 24 Assembly segments and would cover three constituencies every day.
