Hyderabad: Former Union Minister and Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh, on Saturday described the silence being maintained by the TDP and TRS on the issue of Lalit Modi as “clear case of complicity” in the scam committed by the ruling establishment. He demanded that both the parties make clear their stand on the issue.

Speaking to media persons here at Gandhi Bhavan, Jairam Ramesh said that the two Chief Ministers, K Chandrashekar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu, who claim to be champions of good governance , transparency and accountability, were yet to react to the issue which has created political crisis at the national level.

Crticising their silence on Lalit Modi issue, he said one of the two parties was already a part of government and another was desperate to become part of it. “One is in bed and another is desperately attempting to get into the bed with BJP,” he said. Terming the BJP as the Bharatiya Jumla Party, whose president had described the promises made during the elections as ‘chunavi jumle,’ Jairam Ramesh said that party’s leadership fell into the hands of people, who were not ready even to listen to their own luminaries.

He said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party chief Amit Shah should have lent ear once in a while for their margdarshak,L K Advani. He said that Narendra Modi’s ‘deafening silence’ on the Lalit Modi issue gave an impression that the Prime Minister was observing ‘Lalit Asan’, for the last five days.

“We have shot 34 straight forward and pointed questions to the government, but not a single answer has come, providing credence to the notion that several others are involved in the scam,” he said. The Rajya Sabha MP said Narendra Modi became Gujarat Cricket Association president in 2009 even as industrialist Gautam Adani was made commercial promoter in the same year.

He accused the Prime Minister of having ‘deep nexus’ with Lalit Modi, as his close aide and BJP president continued to be the GCA president. “Now there is Big Modi and Small Modi. Narendra Modi came to power with promise of bringing back black money from Swiss Banks, on the contrary he was protecting individuals linked to Lalit Modi,” he said.
