Hyderabad: Activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI) belonging to Osmania University staged a protest outside Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's residence here on Saturday demanding immediate implementation of KG to PG education policy. The NSUI has given a call to observe bandh in junior colleges on Saturday.


The students clashed with the police when they tried to barge into the Chief Minister’s house during the protest. Mild tension prevailed in front of Chief Minister’s residence before the students were taken into custody. The police shifted the students to Punjagutta police station. Apart from demanding implementation of KG to PG policy, protesting students also accused some private colleges of charging exorbitant tuition fee.

Speaking on this occasion, NSUI leaders demanded that the government abolish the colleges, which had no recognition and reduce fees in private colleges and schools. Students also staged dharnas in front of Collectorates across Telangana State. As part of the protest at Khammam Collectorate, the students clashed with each other.


Student unions affiliated student to Left parties staged dharnas in Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Adilabad and Nalgonda districts. The police arrested student leaders who took part in the protests.
