Hyderabad: The much awaited meeting between the Chief Ministers of the two Telugu speaking states, K Chandrasekhar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu did not take place as the Telangana Chief Minister KCR could not attend the dinner as he was indisposed.

A press statement from the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday said Rao had cancelled all his official engagements for the day. Chandrasekhar Rao and Naidu were invited for the banquet dinner hosted by Governor ESL Narasimhan in the honour of President Pranab Mukherjee, who is in the city.

This sparked off speculations that the Governor would utilise the occasion to bring together the two CMs who have been at loggerheads following the cash for vote case. It may be mentioned here that both have been accusing each other of flouting the provisions of AP State Reorganisation Act.

Meanwhile, Naidu called on the President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday afternoon at Rashtrapati Nilayam here and is learnt to have discussed various issues including the ongoing controversy and the need to implement section 8 of the APSRA. Later in the evening he attended the dinner.

However, on behalf of the TS Government, Deputy Chief Ministers of Telangana, Kadiyam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali, and other ministers and officials of Telangana Government were present at Raj Bhavan. KCR who had cancelled all his official engagements and had confined himself to his camp office at Begumpet had a brief meeting with ACB Director General AK Khan, who called on him before the High Court granted bail to TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy in 'Cash for Vote' case.
