Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to grant half-day holiday for Muslim employees in view of Iftar parties in the ten districts on Sunday. Although Sunday is a holiday for majority of the government employees in the State, it is not the same for staff working in some departments like police, Singareni collieries, RTC and others.

The employees working here usually take weekly-off mostly during week days and Sunday would be a regular working day for them. The government decision is intended to benefit thousands of such employees, who could go home and come fresh for the Iftar party in their respective places.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao instructed Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to issue necessary directions on Friday. It may be mentioned here that government is hosting Iftar parties on July 12 throughout the State, including a grand Dawat-e-Iftar at Nizam College grounds in the State capital the same day. The Chief Minister along with his Council of Ministers as well as elected representatives from the 10 districts would be taking part.
