Two lakh devotees throng Pushkar ghats

Cultural programmes wow pilgrims

Mangapet (Warangal): There has been a steady flow of devotees at Mangapet and Ramannagudem Pushkar ghats in the district. On Tuesday, nearly two lakh devotees visited the Pushkar ghats to take a holy dip. As the rush of devotees was coming down slowly, the traffic flow on the roads too eased. The district administration and the police were monitoring the Pushkaralu celebrations closely.

The cultural programmes being organised by the District Information and Public Relations (I & PR) Department were enthralling the audience. Every day evening programmes like Hari Katha, Chindu Yakshaganam, classical dance, Perini dance by professional artists were attracting the devotees.

On the other hand, the devotees were all praise for the initiative taken by Kakatiya Sangham of Mangapet for conducting a free mass feeding programme for the visiting devotees. An office-bearer of the association J Nageshwara Rao told The Hans India that every day on an average they were providing food to about 4,000 devotees.

Arrangements were made for the mass-feeding at Pothuluri Veerabrahmendra Swamy temple premises. Similarly, the temple committees of Shivalayam at Ramannagudem and Saibaba temple at Eturunagaram were also providing food to the devotees for free.

The Deputy District Medical and Health Officer Dr K Dayananda Swamy said that so far more than 4,000 devotees with different ailments were treated at the medical camps set up at the Pushkar ghats. Around 36 doctors and 191 para-medical staff were engaged in offering medical services in three shifts, he added.
