Trauma care centres to be set up for every 100 kilometres on the national highways

Hyderabad: The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Aarogyasri Health Care Trust for Telangana Dr M Chandrasekhar, said here on Wednesday, that Aarogyasri services would be extended to emergency care. After assuming charge as the CEO, Dr M Chandrashekar, a retired Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital, spoke to The Hans India exclusively.

Dr M Chandrasekhar said that as per records 22 per cent deaths occurred due to the delay in transportation of the accident victims to the hospitals. If the Trauma care centre was nearer we could save the lives, he added. “Many young people aged around 18-40 years died due to road accidents. The families of the victims suffered a lot mentally and financially,” he said.

Dr Chandrasekhar also said that Aarogyasri network would establish a ‘highway trauma care center’ for every 100 kilometres along the national highways. “The Union government in the past has given ideas to develop the Trauma Care Centers but has not implemented properly.

Now, the Telangana government decides to respond positively to improve these facilities,” he said. Establishing Highway Trauma Care Center was a National scheme. The State government and Union government would implement this programme jointly, Dr M Chandrasekhar said.
