The 22-page report on the 95-year-old heritage structure to be released today

Hyderabad: The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), it report on the condition of Osmania General Hospital (OGH), said the 95-year-old heritage structure was not as weak as it seems. The 22-page report will be released on Friday.
The reports reiterate that the three-foot granite walls are as strong as ever and the plaster which is peeling off makes the structure look weak. “It is strong from inside. Do not go by the looks,” said a member of the INTACH committee.

Years of neglect by the successive governments has resulted in the present state of affairs. Thanks to the farsightedness of the builders, the structure is so strong that it can withstand the vagaries of nature for another few decades, say the committee members. The basic structure is strong. What it needs is just proper maintenance.
The water seepage on the top floors if mended, the structure can stand tall for years to come, opine the conservation architects who studied the structure. According to sources, a section of medical staff at OGH has given false reports on the condition of the building. A senior member of INTACH said even the JNTU report was baseless as it was done in a jiffy at the behest of some influential people.
