Mahabubnagar: The Zilla Parishad meeting here on Friday was rocked by unruly scene of Achampet MLA slapping Makthal MLA Ch Rammohan Reddy. The incident took place in the presence of two Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and C Laxma Reddy.

Trouble started when TDP MLA from Narayanapet S Rajender Reddy got up to speak. Minister Jupally Krishna told Rejender Reddy that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu addressed a letter to the Centre, seeking its intervention in sabotaging the Palamur Lift Irrigation Project.

The TRS ZPTC and MPTC members demanded that the TDP MLA at first prevail upon his party leader to withdraw the letter he had addressed to the Centre. Meanwhile, the Congress MLAs, led by Rammohan Reddy, rushed to the podium and demanded that they be given a chance to speak.

The TRS MLA Balaraju also rushed to the podium and entered into an argument with the Congress MLA and others. Heated arguments ensued. Balaraju suddenly became angry and slapped Rammohan Reddy.

The incident sparked tension. Balaraju staged a protest in front of the podium. He demanded that the police register a case of assault against Rammohan Reddy. He said Rammohan Reddy had abused him by caste name.

Meanwhile in Hyderabad, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader K Jana Reddy condemned the incident and alleged that the TRS MLA had attacked Congress MLA. He demanded that the Chief Minister initiate action against Balaraju by examining the video records of news channels.

He said that it was unbecoming of the TRS leaders to behave in highly objectionable manner. TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy gave a bandh call in Mahabubnagar district on September 5 to protest against assault on the Congress MLA.

TPCC Working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka condemned the attack on Rammohan Reddy and asked the concerned authorities to take action against the guilty.
