Jangaon/Warangal: Telugu Desam Legislature Party Leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao was on Monday released on bail after being arrested in connection with the rioting at Palakurthi in Warangal district on Sunday. The court ordered Dayakar Rao to produce personal bond for Rs 10,000 and two sureties.

The police produced Dayakar Rao before the Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate at Jangaon on Monday. He was arrested on Sunday night. The police slapped charges under Section 120 (B), 147, 324 and 353 IPC against him. The police also arrested 17 TDP activists too.

They were accused of pelting stone, resulting in bleeding injuries to 15 persons, including a police sub-inspector. Speaking to the media after his release on bail, Dayakar Rao said “justice will prevail.” He expressed his appreciation of people supporting him. He alleged that the TRS workers had attacked him and his party activists.

He demanded that Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari tender an apology to the TDP activists as TRS workers attacked the former. He said his party would fight the dictatorial rule of the State government with the help of other opposition parties. He alleged that Palakurthi Circle Inspector was acting at the behest of the ruling TRS party.

TDP Telangana unit president L Ramana, MPs G Mohan Rao and G Sudharani, MLAs Sayanna and Vivek Goud, senior leaders Motkupalli Narsimhulu, E Peddi Reddy, Seetakka, and others met Dayakar Rao at Jangaon and pledged their support to him. The leaders later inspected the TDP office which was ransacked following the stone pelting incident.

They accused the government of conspiring to suppress the dissent. Sudharani and Seethakka demanded judicial probe into the incident. The Congress leader N Rajender Reddy and S Rajaiah also condemned the attack on TDP workers and Dayakar Rao and their arrest. Meanwhile, Jangaon DSP John Wesley said the case was registered based on complaints by those injured in stone pelting. The complaints included the police sub-inspector.
