Hyderabad: The Congress decided to kick start election campaign from November 4 and hand over responsibility to various top leaders from the State on Monday. During a meeting along with party functionaries, election in-charges and top State leaders, the TPCC allocated responsibilities for embarking on aggressive campaigning.

CLP leader K Jana Reddy (Bhupalpally), TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy (Warangal West), Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Md Shabbir Ali (Warangal East), Deputy Floor Leader in Assembly T Jeevan Reddy (Parakal), TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka (Wardhannapet) and former PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah (Station Ghanpur) would ensure party wins with at least 1 lakh majority.

Party meetings in constituencies will be followed by padayatra at constituency level on November 4. The party workers will raise flags on rooftops of their houses on November 6 and 7, which is described as ‘flag festival’.

Door-to-door campaigning will be initiated between November 8 and November 14. It was also decided to conduct public meetings in Parkal, Waradhannapet, Station Ghanpur, Palakurthi and Warangal from November 15 to19. Briefing to media persons, Uttam Kumar Reddy described this as a ‘referendum’ against the KCR government, as it had failed to implement all the promises it has made during the 2014 elections.

The government’s failure over implementation of 12 percent reservation, 3 acre land to Dalit and 2-bedroom flats for poor would be highlighted during the campaign. “For the last 16 months people were awaiting to teach TRS a lesson and time has come to transform the angst in the form of vote,” he said.
