Engineers to make sure that the construction doesn’t affect road traffic

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy, along with Cyberabad DCP (Traffic) Avinash K Mohanty and structural design engineers of L&TMRHL and HMR, inspected the extended stretch of about 2.4 km between Hitec City metro station and Raidurg terminal station here on Saturday.

Broadly clearing the location of about 70 metro pillars and two station locations of Cyber Gateway Metro Station and Raidurg terminal, N V S Reddy directed the design engineers of L&TMRHL that the Metro pillars should not reduce the available road carriage way and they should be located either on the central median or to the edge of the road. The pillars of all portal structures shall be designed in such a way that one column is in the central median portion and another column is to the edge of the road.

The location and position of pillars near Hitec City flyover are changed in such a way that the pillars will be now at the edge of the flyover and do not obstruct traffic flows on the carriage way. L&TMRHL will take special care in designing Metro foundations and pillars keeping high standards of road safety in mind. The design of Raidurg Metro station and Metro pillars from Raidurg station to Cyber Gateway station would also facilitate construction of the proposed underpass and flyover planned by GHMC at Mindspace Jn.

The HMR MD advised the engineers of HMR and L&TMRHL to mark the available Right of Way (RoW) on either side of the stretch from Cyber Towers to Raheja Mindspace IT park. He also advised them to remove the encroachments and widen the carriage way. Since this is a high density traffic stretch, he advised the engineers to provide service roads on either side for better traffic management.

Reddy also inspected Parking and Circulation (P&C) area near NIFT which is being constructed as a part of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and enquired about amenities and facilities that are being planned in this P&C like skywalks, etc., from the station to Parking and Circulation area.

Chief Engineer HMR Md Ziauddin and other senior engineers and officers from HMR and L&TMRHL were also present during the inspection.
