Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali on Sunday stated that the education policy needs a stringent revision, including in making it practically job-specific. He was addressing a gathering of engineers, professors and academicians after inaugurating FirstPoint Engineers Academy in Nampally.

He pointed out that the gap between academics and industrial work was one of the reasons for non-IT engineers failing to secure well-paying jobs. He called upon educational institutions to make the curriculum more practical so that the students could meet real-time needs of the industry once they come through their examinations.

Former Osmania University Suleiman Siddiqui, JNTU Registrar Dr Yadaih, Prof Manzoor Hussain, Prof Ravindra Tiwari, Principal of Global Institute of Engineering and Suleiman Siddiqui formerly from Osmania University were present on the occasion.

The Deputy Chief Minister lauded the efforts of Azeemuddin Asad for quitting his lucrative job in the Gulf to set up the institute, which offers a multitude of western influenced subjects.

Abid Rasool Khan, who inaugurated the labs, said that the “the state-of-the-art equipment would augur well for the students.” Asad said that they were keen on developing an institute that symbolised the took forward the education hub vision of the State Government.

FirstPoint Engineering Academy has dedicated faculty that will educate students in professional specialisations, including civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics, instrumentation and architecture. Asad’s highpoint in engineering has been his contributions towards the world’s biggest building project Makkah Tower.
