Hyderabad: Unhappy with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for the ‘injustice’ being meted out to Telangana, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has decided to raise the issue in Parliament during its winter session. Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday met the party MPs to discuss the strategy to be adopted during the session.

The TRS is unhappy with the NDA government for its alleged neglect towards the newly-created State. Its MPs have been targeting the BJP-led government for failing to fulfill the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

Kavitha on Sunday said that New Delhi was adopting a step-motherly attitude towards Telangana. She said the Chief Minister met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2014 and submitted a memorandum with 14 demands but not a single demand was fulfilled. The MP said the Central government had neither announced a special status nor special package to Telangana though 16 months had passed since the birth of the new State.

The TRS is also upset that the NDA government had not allotted a single institute of higher education to Telangana while setting up several institutes in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. Kavitha pointed out that the State government sought development of 6,000 km of national highways but the Centre agreed to sanction only 1,200 km. However, the TRS MPs are preparing to stall the proceedings of the Parliament session beginning November 26. They are most likely to mount pressure on the Centre by storming the podium in Parliament, it is learnt.

MPs present in the meeting were Jithender Reddy, B Vinod Kumar, K Kesava Rao, K Kavitha, B Suman, Vishweshwar Reddy and B Narsaiah Goud. It may be noted that the TRS leadership is unhappy with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for denying funds towards crop loan waiver and meager allocation of houses to the State, no promise of national status to the project sought and others, it is learnt. The TRS has 10 MPs in the Lok Sabha and if it retains the Warangal seat, the by-election for which was held on Saturday, the tally will go up to 11.
