Mahbubnagar: District Collector Dr T K Sridevi said the schools should implement joyful learning models to improve literacy rate in the distinct. She was addressing the ‘Aksharavanam’ programme organised by Vande Mataram Foundation at Kalwakurthy,

which was attended by leading personalities including renowned educationist Chukka Ramaiah and former CBI Joint Director Laxmi Narayana. The luminaries gave their valuable suggestions to improve quality of education in schools.

As part of the programme, the district collector expressed her concern over the low literacy rate among girls in the district. She said joyful and quality learning could only help enhance the literacy rate in the district.

Chukka Ramaiah said teachers should mould their teaching methods in accordance with the contemporary situations in the society.

He also said the present educational system should help students lead a useful career in future.

Laxmi Narayana said that government schools were no less than private schools. He gave his own example and said, “I am a product of government school and have reached to the highest level by sheer hard work and dedication. Therefore, it is important for the students to inculcate values by taking Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Swami Vivekananda as their role models.”
