TS party unit president Kishan Reddy-led delegation discusses GHMC polls with party national president Amit Shah
New Delhi: Telangana State BJP leadership termed Minister for Panchayat Raj K T Rama Rao as a “kid” for criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to the media after their meeting with the party president, Amit Shah, G Kishan Reddy, N Janardhan Reddy, N Indrasen Reddy and K Lakshman said the party would not even like to respond to the criticism against Modi by KTR. Instead of targeting the Prime Minister, KTR and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should focus their attention addressing the problems being faced by the people.
Accusing KCR of resorting to horse-trading, they said it was shameful that the Chief Minister himself was luring leaders of other political parties to defect to the TRS right from mandal and panchayat level to the State levels.
The ruling party and its leadership had become the biggest threat to democracy and ethics in the country by preventing the Opposition from contesting the elections fairly. Apart from protocol violations in case of people's representatives, the ruling party was humiliating the Opposition leaders at every opportunity.
They accused the government of making promises like housing for all and completion of irrigation projects without even making budgetary provisions for them. If only the government spent Rs 8,000 crore on the pending irrigation projects, all projects would be completed, they said.
Referring to the GHMC elections, they demanded that the State Election Commission ensure free and fair polls. The Election Commission, they said, should probe into the deletion of voters from the electoral rolls. They felt that the GHMC officials were trying to help the ruling party gain advantage in the elections.
Earlier, the delegation met Union Ministers, Rajnath Singh and M Venkaiah Naidu. Earlier, a delegation of Telangana State BJP leaders led by its president G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday met party national president Amit Shah and Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu.
During the meeting with Amit Shah, Telangana State unit party leaders apprised him of the party activities. The open revolt by party MLA T Raja Singh came up for discussion during the reviwe. They also discussed on the ways to strengthen the party and the strategy to be adopted for the ensuing GHMC elections.
The discussion they had with the party national president centred on forthcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the strategy to be adopted to win as many seats as possible. Besides Kishan Reddy, senior leaders Indrasena Reddy, Laxman, Ramchander Rao, Nagam Janardhan Reddy and others were present during the meeting.
Earlier, the delegation met M Venkaiah Naidu and discussed with him the party matters. Informed sources said the BJP leaders had complained to the Union Minister that the TRS government had been organising government programmes as if they were
the party programmes. They also felt that the State government was following dictato-rial attitude. The Telangana BJP leaders would also call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday.
