Clarification by SIO

Hyderabad: The Students Islamic Organization (SIO) clarified that the arrested Islamic State sympathiser Maaz Hasan Farooq does not have any association with the organisation now.

Reacting to a story published in the media, the office-bearers of SIO said the arrested youngster no longer holds any link with the organisation and was expelled from it for having ideological differences.

"Maaz was expelled from the organization after receiving complaints from other members of the SIO and based on the observations of the then officer bearers about his serious ideological differences with the policies of the organization and violation of the organizational principles. Maaz has nothing to do with SIO,” they informed.
