Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday assured that the State government would extend all necessary help in reviving the Ramagundam Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL). The assurance has come during a review meeting held in the Chief Minister’s Camp Office with National Fertilizers Corporation CMD Manoj Mishra, RFCL CEO Vivek Malhotra and CFO Sunil Bhatia.

The RFCL having a production capacity of 4.95 lakh tonnes of Urea and 2.97 lakh tonnes of Ammonia was started in 1980. But, the same was closed down in 1990 for various reasons. After the creation of separate state, the Telangana State government had made an appeal to the Centre to take steps to restore the operations of the RFCL. Once the operations are restored, the plant would provide direct employment opportunities to about 3,000 people.

Besides, it would help in meeting the Urea and Ammonia requirements of the State. Responding positively to the request which was made by the State, the Centre has set a target to operationalise the RFCL by June 2018. It was against this backdrop, that the senior officials from the NFC and RFCL had met the Chief Minister with details to chalk out a road map to revive the RFCL.

Reviewing necessary steps needed for the same, KCR has directed the officials to provide 0.55 tmc of water from Yellampalli intake well through Mission Bhagiratha pipeline to the plant. The Chief Minister has also directed senior officials of the Energy Department to ensure that the plant is supplied with 44 megawatts of power.

In regard to other requirements needed for operationalising the RFCL, KCR asked the officials to extend all necessary cooperation as per the TS IPass Act, brought into force for promotion of industries in the State. MPs Jithender Reddy, B Vinod Kumar, Balka Suman, Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma, SCCL CMD Sridhar, Secretary Industrials Aravind Kumar, Principal Secretary to CM S Narasinga Rao, and Additional Special Secretary Santhi Kumari were present.
