Hyderabad: Ahead of summer, the Telangana State government on Monday entered into agreements with NTPC (Ramagundam) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for supply of power. Under the agreement, NTPC would supply 1600 MW and the SCCL would give 1200 MW of power from its Jaipur thermal plant to be commissioned in April this year to TS TRANSCO.

The cost of power being purchased from the two entities would be decided based on the recommendation of the TSERC (Electricity Regulatory Commission). The officials said that the power supply from the two organisations would provide a big relief from power shortage in the ensuing
summer.

NTPC General Manager CV Anand, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar and TS TRANSCO CMD Prabhakar Rao signed the MoUs in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and State Energy Secretary Aravind Kumar at the Chief Minister’s camp office.
