Khammam: District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar, who is also the district election officer and Chairman of Media Certificate Monitoring Committee (MCMC), urged the candidates contesting in the corporation elections to take permission from MCMC for campaigning through local channels, social network, audio and bulk SMS.

In order to take permission from Media Certificate Monitoring Committee, the candidates must give the details in writing about the time, rates and how many times in a day campaigning programme would be telecasted in the local channels along with the expenditure details. Even for the audio also they have to take permission, said Lokesh Kumar.

If anybody violates the rule without taking permission, action would be taken under Cable Network Act-1995 on the representatives of the channel and on the candidates, the Collector warned.
