Warangal: A total of 42 candidates, who have took part in Telangana struggle, were given chance to contest in Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) elections, revealed Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao. Since the TRS is enjoying the public trust, there have been an unexpected number of nominations filed by the party workers for elections.

Leaving aside those who were given B-forms, the leaders convinced the others to withdraw their nominations. Harish Rao thanked all the candidates who have withdrawn their nominations while saying the party did justice to all in the distribution of the tickets. The party would do justice to those who have not received the tickets this time.

Hitting out at the Opposition parties, he said they lack confidence in their candidates. The TDP hid its candidates at the party office in Hyderabad while Congress could not name their candidates till the last minute, he pointed out. If the parties could not trust their own nominees, how the public could trust such parties and their candidates and expect development of Warangal, Harish Rao sought to know.

Deputy CM K Srihari speaking on the occasion said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was committed for the all round development of Warangal. The district would be become an educational hub with Tribal University, Agricultural College, Veterinary College, Sainik School, Hyderabad Public School and others coming up here, in addition to Health University. He informed that Rs 8 crore was sanctioned to address drinking water problem of tri-cities, he added.
