Asifabad (Adilabad): A team of CCMB scientists on Tuesday visited Dhanora village of Kerameri mandal and identified lands in the village suitable for apple cultivation. They inspected the five-acre land of Balaji, a farmer from the village. Later talking to villagers, they said that the atmospheric conditions in the mandal were favourable to apple cultivation and asked those who were interested in raising the crop to consult them.

They said that 500 apple saplings would be given to farmers of the mandal in April. Chilly weather conditions favour kiwi fruit, pepper and turmeric cultivation and the yield would be very good, they said. District Horticulture Development Officer Sattar told the villagers that the horticulture department would provide them with various tools and saplings to enable them to raise various crops. These crops are in progress in other states and apples would be cultivated in Dhanora for the first time, he added.
