On the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), the Telangana Jagruti (Nizamabad wing) organised the women’s day celebrations on Tuesday and felicitated the women, who excelled in their fields and participated in the Telangana movement. The Nizamabad Mayor Aakula Sujatha and district Telangana Jagruti president Lakshminarayana Bharadwaj felicitated several women at the Ambedkar Bhavan.

Nizamabad: On the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), the Telangana Jagruti (Nizamabad wing) organised the women’s day celebrations on Tuesday and felicitated the women, who excelled in their fields and participated in the Telangana movement. The Nizamabad Mayor Aakula Sujatha and district Telangana Jagruti president Lakshminarayana Bharadwaj felicitated several women at the Ambedkar Bhavan in the town.

On the occasion Mayor Aakula Sujatha said that now-a-days women and men were equal, but in our society there was discrimination against the female child. She urged the society to stop discrimination against women and fight against gender inequalities. In his speech, Lakshminarayana Bharadwaj said that in our society, women and men share 50 percent each, but still, there was so much discrimination against women.

He said that there should be an end to the male domination in the society and women should be given their rightful place. Later, Jagruthi members felicitated women who specialized in various fields. Telangana Jagruti members Avanti, Puli Jaipal, Panchareddy Murali, Zilla Parishad cice-chairperson Sumana Reddy, municipal corporators Changu Bhai, Suguna, Bar Association President Swaroopa Rani and others were present.
