Women should be empowered: Dr Kavya

Khammam: Quoting the famous saying by Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru "To awaken the people, it is the women who must be awakened. Once she is on the move, the family moves, the village moves, the nation moves," Dr Kavyachand Yalamudi extended warm greetings to all women, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

She is the first female physician with MD in the district. She pursued higher education at Delhi Public School and V V C Public School in Khammam; Intermediate at Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Vijayawada; medicine at Raja Rajeswari Medical College & Hospital, Bengaluru; and took MD degree in General Medicine from Dr. D Y Patil Medical College & Hospital, Pune. Presently Kavyachand is working at Newlife Hospital here.

Dr Kavyachand felt that women empowerment is very important for every country in the world since it means increasing and improving social, economic, political and legal strength of women.

She appreciated the contribution of Mahila organisations and NGO’s for their efforts to eradicate social evils like dowry system, sexual harassment etc. She advised all women to have at least primary education and should be strong and independent enough to perform her role in the society.
