Hyderabad: In a bid to end the continuing spar between ruling TRS and opposition parties on the nativity of Seemandhra people living in the state capital, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday said people who hail from different parts of the country and are living in State capital are ‘Hyderabadis’.

“People living in the city can proudly claim they are Hyderabadis,” he said on the floor of the House in response to criticism by opposition parties. He said his government would stand by Hyderabadis whether they belong to Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab or any other State.

Since the city has emerged as a global city, his government would ensure the safety of everyone living in the capital. The TRS has been fighting against people who exploited and looted Telangana and supported people who migrated to city to eke out a living, the Chief Minister said.

He reiterated that for reconstructing the State, we need to reinvent and reorient Telangana State. He said his government succeeded in maintaining law and order by taking stringent steps and the crime rate was down by 14 per cent when compared to last year. The debt-ridden Road Transport Corporation (RTC) has been strengthened by providing financial assistance, he said.

He clarified that loans taken by farmers would be waived in two installments in view of budgetary constraints. The government has already waived 50 per cent of Rs 15,500 crore loans taken from banks.
