Nizamabad: District Collector Yogita Rana on Tuesday told the medical staff that no woman should die due to the breast or cervical cancer in the district and told them to conduct tests to diagnose the two types of cancer in the early stages itself.

Addressing a review meeting with medical and health, women and child welfare department, IKP officials at the Nizamabad medical college to create awareness among officials, the District Collector said that lack of awareness and not conducting tests in the early stages, thousands of women were dying every year in our country.

Rana said that there were 4.13 lakh women between the ages of 30 to 60 years, and urged the officials to create awareness among them. They should be encouraged to conduct screening and biopsy tests. If any one woman has positive results in these tests, medical treatment should be provided for such women, the district Collector added.

She became emotional and had to fight back tears when she recalled some of her close friends who died of cancer. In this convergence meeting the Joint Collector, the Additional Joint Collector and Medical Department officials participated.
