Hyderabad: Extended co-ordination and co-operation between various departments would go a long way in meeting the rapid development needs in all urban segments, especially cities, according to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin. He was speaking at a conference on ‘Shaping India's Urban Agenda’ in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by mayors and their deputies of all municipal corporations across the country. "Our country has been increasingly characterised by cities and the population living in it growing permanently. This trend entails serious demographic, economic and social challenges. This is the reason that cities are the focal point of today's problems.

The question remains same everywhere: how can we influence the development of towns and cities in such a way that all their inhabitants have a share in economic, technological and social progress, enjoy cultural diversity and a sound environment, and can participate democratically in shaping where they live," said the deputy mayor in a press release. "It indeed heart-warming to see all our learned officers contributing selflessly towards their social responsibility", he added.
