Nalgonda: In a bizarre incident, parents of X class students, who were writing the exam, staged road blockade in protest against the setting up of closed-circuit television (cctv) cameras at the examination centre. The incident took place on Monday, the first day of the exams, at Thungathurthy mandal head quarters.

The students, who wrote exam at examination centre in Telangana State Boys Residential School (TSBRS), complained to their parents that they couldn’t write the exam well due to the presence of cctv cameras in the examination hall.

The parents were worried that their wards may perform poor in the exams, afraid of the cctv cameras in the exam centre and raised slogans against the government and Education department for scaring the students by setting up cctv cameras at the centre in the name of transparency in conducting the SSC exams.

They demanded immediate removal of cctv cameras at the examination centre. The parents asked the government as to why they were experimenting on school students instead of degree students and others. They demanded the government either setting up of cctv cameras in all centres across the district or removal of the cameras that were set up at TSBRS centre, Thugathurthy, as pilot project.

About 210 students have appeared exam on the first day at this center. Parents warned the government if they continue the exams under the electronic eye, they will intensify the stir. Police intervened and cleared the traffic.
