Hyderabad: A house owner from Edi Bazar and 11 other persons, who had helped him in illegally digging a house to extract treasure, were arrested by the Hussaini Alam police on Saturday. Charminar ACP K Ashok Chakravarthy, in a press meet, said on Friday night that the police team rushed to the place on receiving information that a resident of Hussaini Alam, was illegally digging in his house and apprehended 12 persons including the house owner Mohammed Umar alias Irfan (45).

On thorough verification, it was found that Umar had hired some persons from Medak and from his vicinity to conduct digging for the past 15 days. On questioning, Umar confessed that some persons had raised a suspicion of hidden treasure in his house, after which he started digging and planned to enjoy the treasure, if was found.

Basing on his confession, Haji Masoor (45), Abed Ali (45), Mohd Afsar (46), Syed Mujeeb (40), Mohd Kaleel (25), Mohammed Fahar (24), Syed Bilal (24), C Mahesh (24), Mohammed Allauddin (26), and Y Sravan (26), a software engineer, who also helped the accused Umar in treasure hunt, were arrested, said ACP Chakravarthy. He said all of them were booked under Section 427 of IPC and Section 20 of Indian Treasure Trove Act and produced in the local court for judicial remand.
