Hyderabad: Finance Minister Eatala Rajender on Sunday said the State government had decided to postpone the examination for Group II by a couple of months as it was firm on increasing the already notified posts from 439 to 724. Replying during Question Hour in Legislative Council, the Minister said some of the departments like Revenue were carrying out additional work like comprehensive survey of land records in the State. They have meagre staff.

He informed the House that the government which promised one lakh jobs, had already sent proposals to the Finance Department for 55,000 jobs, both vacant and new. The government which started filling vacancies after separation of Telangana State had filled 11,000 positions. While 14,000 proposals for new jobs were pending with TSPSC (TS Public Service Commission) and 11,000 jobs were under examination by the government.

“Vacancies with departments which are active will be filled first and defunct departments would be reviewed,” he said. It may be recalled that the examination for recruitment to Group II services of the State government scheduled for April 23 and 24 had been postponed by two months. The 439 posts were for the post of Municipal Commissioner (19), Prohibition and Excise Sub-Inspector (110), Extension Officer (panchayat raj and rural development-23), Assistant Commercial Taxe Officer (67) and Sub-Registrar (220).
