TRS MLA suggests salwar kameez for schoolgirls

TRS legislator, Konda Surekha speaking in the state assembly advised that schools should follow salwar kameez as uniform instead of short dresses in order to curb sexual harassment cases in school.

Asserting the need to follow a strict dress code for girls studying in class 10, the legislator said that Salwar kameez covers the entire body and also upkeeps modesty, unlike the short dresses. Konda Surekha further said that strict actions should be taken against the harassers and should be debarred from attending school. Also, the legislator said that the government employees who are accused of harassing women should also be penalised.
